Vehicle recalls
NHTSA publishes recalls for vehicles, tires, car seats, and equipment. This page restates those notices from about the last 12 months and groups vehicle campaigns by make. A campaign lists the vehicles that might be included. It does not mean every VIN of that make and model is part of the recall. Safety recall repairs are free at an authorized dealer.
Official NHTSA records list 937 recalls in the last 12 months, most recently on 2026-10-16.
How to check if your car has a recall (VIN lookup) · Baby & kids, including car seats
NHTSA's lookup is the only way to know whether a specific vehicle has an open recall. This page cannot say that a VIN is included or that it is clear.

Questions
Only NHTSA's VIN lookup can say whether a specific vehicle has an open recall. Paste the 17-character VIN at https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls. A campaign listed here for your make and model does not mean your VIN is included.
Paste the VIN into the box at https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls. The VIN is 17 characters, does not use I, O, or Q, and is on the driver's side dashboard and door jamb. NHTSA's page does not accept the VIN in the web address. This site can decode a VIN to a year, make, and model and show campaigns for that make. That is not a VIN match.
Yes. NHTSA says safety recall repairs are free at an authorized dealer, including parts and labor. The official notice for each campaign describes the remedy.
